How to: Change the drive letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive.
Solution:
In the 'Control Panel', double-click the 'System' icon, click the 'Device Manager' tab, and double-click 'CDROM'. Double-click the appropriate CD-ROM and click the 'Settings' tab. Select the drive letter from the 'Start drive letter' drop-down list and from the 'End drive letter' drop-down list.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)

3) Double-click the 'System' icon. (The 'System Properties' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'Device Manager' tab. (The 'Device Manager' tabbed page appears.)
5) If necessary, select the 'View devices by type' radio button.
6) Double-click 'CDROM' in the list box. (The branch expands, showing all devices.)
7) Select the CD-ROM you want to change from the list, and click 'Properties'. (The '<device> Properties' dialog box appears, where <device> is the name of the selected device.)

8) Click the 'Settings' tab. (The 'Settings' tabbed page appears.)
9) In the 'Reserved drive letter' group, select the desired drive letter from the 'Start drive letter' drop-down list and from the 'End drive letter' drop-down list.
NOTE: Be sure that the letter selected is different from those of the currently installed drives (including network drives).

10) Click 'OK' to close the '<device> Properties' dialog box (where <device> is the name of the selected device).
11) Click 'OK' to close the 'System Properties' dialog box.
12) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to close the 'Control Panel' window.
13) Restart the computer for the changes to take effect:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Shut Down...'. (The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box appears.)
c) Select the 'Restart the computer' radio button and click 'Yes'. (The computer restarts.)
